Staff from across Bowman Ingredients’ UK food coatings production sites have raised over £1,200 for a cancer charity.
A fundraising cake sale in aid of Bowel Cancer UK recently took place simultaneously at all three UK production facilities. Staff at each site were invited to bake a cake at home or buy cakes to donate and sell to raise awareness and funds for the charity.
Employees from the admin, production, warehouse and engineering teams at plants in Bedford, Ickleford and Knowl Piece baked and donated a mouth-watering selection of cakes. Staff were encouraged to take a break from work to buy a cake and enjoy cup of tea together.
Bowman Ingredients CEO Rory Bowman says: “There was a good buzz between staff all three production plants on the day and a debate over which site had put on the best spread. It was great to discover we have some really talented home bakers among the Bowman Ingredients workforce.”
The event raised £645.57, which was matched by company CEO Rory Bowman to make a grand total of £1,291.14 for Bowel Cancer UK. Any cakes left unsold at the end of the day were donated to a local homeless shelter.
Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity, funding research, providing information and supporting patients and their families.
