Group HR Manager UK

Our Group HR Manager originally joined us as a Technical Administrator, with responsibility for raw material specifications. After a few years she became Customer Services Manager, before progressing to HR Manager for Bowman Ingredients. She later took on the role of Group HR Manager, with responsibility for over 220 employees in both the Ingredients and Milling divisions.

Our Group HR Manager says:

“I really enjoy the variety in my work for Bowman. I love the flexibility and responsiveness of the business. It’s a great place to work. We’re big enough to have plenty of career opportunities and small enough to allow individuals to develop their ideas.”

Operations Manager UK

Our Operations Manager joined the company as a forklift truck driver. He showed interest in the ingredients warehousing operation and started to assist for a few extra hours each evening. He then became Warehouse Supervisor, before moving into the role of Planner/Purchaser for raw materials. After a stint as Customer Services Manager, he was promoted to Operations Manager, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of our £7million blending plant.

Our Operations Manager says:

“Working for Bowman has opened up doors that I never expected. I have constantly been encouraged and mentored as I progressed my career through the company. Each day presents a different challenge, which is what makes the job so exciting. It’s a pleasure to come to work.”

Marketing Assistant UK

Our Marketing Assistant joined the company shortly after graduating with a BSc degree in Management with Marketing. One of her main responsibilities is identifying current and future flavour trends to support our New Product Development and Sales teams. This varied role involves attending international food trade exhibitions, working alongside development chefs and presenting to key customers.

Our Marketing Assistant says:

“Every day is different and that’s what makes working here so enjoyable. The opportunities for growth and career development are huge. The sky’s the limit at Bowman.”

General Manager (Manufacturing) ZA

In 1994 we employed a new graduate from Reading University as a Laboratory Technician at our UK headquarters. Six months later she became Quality Assurance Manager, with responsibility for product specifications and ensuring brand protection for our customer base. Several years of experience followed in Quality Assurance, Customer Service and Operations. She is now based in Cape Town, where she is General Manager (Manufacturing) of Bowman Ingredients South Africa.

Our General Manager says:

“Bowman Ingredients expects a lot of its employees, but in return is prepared to offer bigger and better challenges. For me, it is a place where real opportunities exist if you are prepared to grab them with both hands. In spite of its growth over the years, the company still manages to retain a feeling of family and continues to be a wonderful place to work.”
